On this day for years past beyond mortal memory, a contest has been held. A contest of champions, fallen heros, terrors beyond imagination and dreams. A hallowed tradition that can't be broken - except for this year because the 1st was a long weekend, itches was drinking, and forgot. What is this contest? Coolest Avatar of 2013™!
Do you have what it takes to join the champions of the past such as WhoNaN, itches, BigRedRod, LeeCHeSSS, itches, Noocytx, Gralhruk, itches, jiffypop, red_dr4g0n94, or Tashalar? I doubt it, we may not even have a winner this year
One night long ago, I lay upon the cool grass and cast my vision to the dark sky above. The stars danced with otherworldly grace and as I observed them I discovered the secret laws to this most holy of rituals.
The rules are simple and I'll run through them here for those who are new or have forgotten:
For one week from the time of this post, nominations will be open
You can only nominate yourself
Your avatar can be anything (provided it's appropriate for this site i.e. no vulgar pictures)
The avatar need not be your own creation
You can't re-enter an avatar that has already won
And don't change your avatar once you have nominated yourself
Also remember to include a six word or less description that amuses me, or I may make one up for you.
Once the nominations are collected they will be placed in a poll that will remain open for another seven days (my time), after which we will either enter a 48 hour Sudden-Death tie breaker, or adorn the winner with their ceremonial bragging rights. We suggest putting the phrase "Winner of the 2013 Coolest Avatar Award™" in your signature.
Don't miss out on this rare chance shred your dignity for fake online popularity!

I'd like to be able to tell you that we have come up with a perfect mapping solution. Well, to be honest, we have but our cruel and draconic nature prevents us from sharing it with the likes of you people. Instead, we will present you with a vaunted (but not quite perfect) mapping solution.
Let's pretend that you have labored long and hard in the image editing program of your choice to make the perfect map for an imminent combat. While you were at it you made a bunch of nifty tokens to represent the PCs and possibly even their adversaries. You've also taken the time to upload all of that crap to the internet.
So perhaps this is your map:
And these are your tokens:
Now, of course, you are saddled with the burden of getting everyone's location and then scurrying back to your image editing program (up hill, both ways) to combine those things for round one and then upload the entire mess again. And then you get to repeat that task (no doubt fighting off bears with your notebook as you trudge upwards through two feet of snow) each and every round for as long as the combat should last.
Wouldn't it be great if there were some way to make this entire process easier? Well, some folks are born to be great and others have greatness thrust upon them, while the rest of you will have to make do with the [gridmap] tag.

So here we go:
As originally communicated on 21 December 2012, UberGlobal’s Data Centre provider will be undertaking power infrastructure upgrade works in planned maintenance windows on the 15th and 16th of January and 5th and 6th of February. The first two windows have been confirmed for 3am to 7am next Tuesday 15th and Wednesday 16th of January.

But we really hate that there is no good way to format a character sheet using BB codes. So we turned the hated light of our everlasting hatred on that annoying problem and came up with a solution: the grid.
The [grid] tag allows you to create a basic table - very useful if you want information to line up on something like a character sheet. Sadly, after weeks of trying to make it so easy a monkey could do it we decided our monkey was uncharacteristically stupid and fed him to a dracolich. At any rate, with a little effort you too can prettify your posts to the benefit of all:
